How to Use Lemon and Honey to Lose Weight

While there are no magical elixirs for melting extra pounds off with no other effort, it is possible to supplement a healthy diet and active lifestyle with lemon and honey to support your weight loss goals.

Step 1

Bring a pot or kettle of water to a boil over high heat. Cold or lukewarm water may also be used, but honey dissolves a bit more easily in hot liquids.

Step 2

Fill a cup or mug 3/4 full with the boiling water, being careful not to splash yourself.

Step 3

Add 1 to 2 teaspoons of honey to the cup of boiled water. Stir the honey in with a fork or cup-sized whisk.

Step 4

Stir fresh lemon juice to taste into the sweetened hot water.

Step 5

Drink one cup of hot water with lemon and honey first thing in the morning instead of coffee. Lemon juice and honey contain no caffeine and have fewer calories than a designer coffee loaded with caramel or other flavored syrups. Honey also metabolizes a bit more slowly than sugar, which can help you avoid the blood sugar fluctuations that make it difficult to control your appetite.
